A Sprinkle for Sadie

Last weekend, my mom and aunt threw me the sweetest little "sprinkle" for Sadie.  Attended by my closest family and friends, it was an intimate brunch with adorable, girly details, delicious food and lots of little things for our girl!!  I was so happy to have the people I love most all in one room and so appreciative of all the gifts we received for Sadie girl!!

And the details!!!  My mama and Aunt Debbie put so much work into making it perfect and it was every bit of perfection!  Evidently I'm hard to throw a party for, ya know, being a party planner and all, but after seeing how they worked their magic with this little shin dig, I told them they should definitely team up as pros!

I so love how everyone is looking forward to meeting our Sadie!  And, this is was the perfect day to celebrate her future arrival!

Enjoy the photos!

(and thank you to my Aunt Kimberly for taking quite a few of these!  She did an awesome job!)

Sunday in the Park with...Jacob, The Four Year Old Ninja Turtle

To my dismay, my sweet little boy has fallen in love with nunchucks (how the heck are you supposed to spell that?) and defeating imaginary characters named Shredder.  I'm not entirely sure how this happened.  Somehow he saw it, we obviously didn't think it was too harmful, and then it became an obsession before we could stop it?  I mean, this kid knows who the Power Rangers are already and has literally never even seen an episode.  THANKS, world of media.

Anyway, my "I will not give into the mainstream" attitude came into play when Jacob insisted on a TMNT birthday party.  So, since I knew it would make him happy, I agreed, but planned a party without employing the cheesy "official" TMNT branded paper plates, cups, JUNK that's all of a sudden everywhere.  I guess they're making a comeback?

My feelings aside, this boy was a happy boy to play with his friends at the park on a brisk Sunday afternoon, drink "Sewer Water" and munch on foods slathered with green food dye.  And that's all that matters.

Here are a few photos from the big day, my Jacob's fourth birthday!!

^^Cakes with fabric masks, marshmallow sticks dipped in sprinkles, "cowabunga" pizza (bagel bites) under the tin foil.

^^Plain vanilla yogurt, some food dye + fruit

^^Jacob's favorite thing to do at the park: jump into the sand!!

^^kisses for daddy.

My Sweet Boy is FOUR!!

Where has the time gone?!  It's been four years since our Jacob came into our world and almost five since we found out we were expecting (SURPRISE!!!).  It was the best surprise I've ever been blessed with.  I was in love since the moment I laid eyes on him.  The ladies at the hospital were scolding me, telling me to put him down and let him sleep somewhere other than on my chest, but I just couldn't.  I loved the sweet way he smelled, the little faces he'd make, how warm he was...everything!! He was the absolute sweetest.

And then he grew into the funniest little boy, full of personality and joy.  He LOVES to make people laugh, make silly faces, play music, dance, play superheroes and, thankfully, he's still such a cuddle bug!!

Jacob, I'm so thankful to be your mommy.  Daddy and I love you more than words.  I know you continue to grow with that insatiable talent to make people around you feel joy, the sweetness of spirit you warm our hearts with, the love of music that I'm so happy we share and a love for the people you encounter every day that makes you a joy to be around.  I pray that your love for people grows into a desire to give and serve those around you, your love of music develops into a desire to show others Jesus through music, that your tenacity of personality turns into drive, that your sweetness will help you to walk in humility and that you never allow your joy to be taken away by the everydayness of life as you grow older.  Know that you make me laugh every day, make my heart more full every day and remind me every day of how blessed I am that God chose us to send you to.  You are precious and I pray that I will never take one moment with you for granted.  I love you!!!  And your Daddy does too.  Speaking of your Daddy, be like him- you share that insatiable joy and love to make people laugh.  He gives to our family so selflessly.  Never forget to thank him for that and learn from it.  You have a great example of how to be a father in your daddy.  One day, a long, long, long time from now you'll find that example to be extremely helpful in raising your own babies.

And, here's a sneak peek of Jacob's TMNT birthday party yesterday!!  He had so much fun at our Sunday afternoon in the park with our family and friends.  We're so happy they were there to celebrate our boy with us.  More to come!
